I thought I would start writing a blog. I was on vacation, and without the stresses of work, lying in the sun, the mind starts to wander and I thought it may be a decent idea. I was inspired by a friend’s father who writes a blog and I read it periodically and thought why not give it a try. A few questions came to mind.

Why?
My wife asked me why I would want to do this. I said I don’t know, to which she replied whatever floats your boat. Well, why does anybody write or voice their opinions? I suspect the main reason is that someone else will read or listen and will be influenced either positively or negatively. The desire is to inform and inspire. To educate and be educated. To elicit emotions such as joy and sadness, fear, anger, despair and hope. The written word has tremendous power.
I suppose there are other reasons to write such as ego and self-interest as well as the desire to leave a legacy. To document ones thoughts similar to a diary.

What?
Clearly, people write about what they know, what they see and experience. Is it biased? Absolutely. The question is, is it fair? That is up to the reader. I’ll write about my opinions which are based on my environment, my accumulation of life's experiences and how that fits into my frame of reference. My family, my job, my hobbies, my friends, my experiences will all be a source of material. I suppose those are the main questions. Others come to mind.
How often? Shooting for once per week.
How long?
Will I stay with it or get lazy?
Will anyone care what I have to say? Does it matter?
Well, I’ll give it a try.
